With the Ghana Premier League going down over the weekends, all eyes will be on the Nation’s Wembley this afternoon, as Tamale City and Nsoatreman battle it out for the Division One Zone one slot to complete the premier league entrants for next season.
With Samatex and Kotoku Royals topping their respective groups to seal their debut qualification to the elite league, the onus now lies on either of Nsoatreman or Tamale City to complete the trio.
After 30 rounds of the regular division one zonal season, Tamale City won 22 matches, drew 5 and lost 3 to amass 71 points. They scored the zone’s highest goals, 62 and conceded 19 with 43 goals difference.
Nsoatreman on the other hand also won 21 matches, drew 8 and lost only once, giving them points total of 71. They also scored 50 goals and conceded the zone’s lowest goals16, to boast a goal difference of 34. Both teams won their respective home league games between themselves by a lone goal making them unseparable after gaining same points(71) at the end of the seeson.
Per the FA’s rules, the two teams are to honour a one off play off at a neutral venue, which the FA has settled on the nation’s Wembley, Ohene Djan Sports stadium. If the game ends in a draw at the end of 90 minutes, the game will travel to extra time at the end of which the two teams are still inseparable, the final slot to the elite league would be decided on lottery of penalty kicks.
We await what the day would offer us. Good luck to both teams. May the best team win🙏
